About the Programme

If you are interested in taking your teaching knowledge to the next level, this programme offers you the chance to study a specialist area of your interest and develop higher level capabilities.

You can choose one of the three majors that you are not only passionate about but are a priority for Australian schools:
- E-Learning
- Inclusive and Special Needs Education
- International Education

Our flexible programme addresses contemporary educational issues currently facing the teaching workforce. You will learn directly from leading academics in their field, who will teach you new pedagogies, contents and perspectives. You will graduate with knowledge across your chosen major, a different outlook on contemporary teaching challenges and a support network.

The E-Learning Major aims to meet the professional needs of educators wishing to upskill in a specialisation of emerging technologies and to discover the place technology has taken across the curriculum in primary, secondary and postsecondary education.

Educators across educational sectors are exploring and sharing innovative ways to use technology to foster interaction, collaboration, and increased engagement with learning.

This programme addresses practical and theoretical issues related to the use of digital technologies and innovative pedagogies and students are invited to engage with the pedagogical issues facing educators in the E-Learning environment, reflect on their practices and develop strategies for effectively integrating new technologies at their own institutions.

Assessments will include the completion of group presentations and individual research projects tailored to their own working environment.

Graduation & Degree Awarded

Students who successfully complete and pass the units stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Education E-Learning from Murdoch University, Australia.

The Graduate Certificate will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in Australia.

Assessment

This is a 100% assignment-based programme, with no exams. Each unit is assessed by any combination of class participation, presentations, projects, or written assignments. Assessment methods may vary according to individual unit requirements.

Delivery Mode

Students will attend a combination of online lectures, tutorials, and workshops conducted by lecturers from Murdoch University in this programme. Students are expected to be on campus for tutorials and workshops.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Transnational Education and Singapore Dean at Murdoch University is based in Singapore to oversee all academic aspects and to ensure a high standard of academic delivery.

Admission Criteria
Academic Requirements

The Graduate Certificate programme accepts the following qualification:

A Bachelor of Education (AQF Level 7) or equivalent OR a Bachelor’s Degree from any discipline (AQF Level 7) and at least 2 years full time (or equivalent) of teaching experience in the education sector.

English Language Requirements

Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.

Working Experience

For students with any Bachelor’s Degree (AQF Level 7) but without Bachelor of Education degree only – At least two years full time (or equivalent) of teaching experience in the education sector.

In all cases, the final decision on admission to the programme rests with the University.
