About the Programme

The Degree programme adopts a multi-method approach, working beyond traditional boundaries to combine different expertise, and share fascinating techniques and intriguing theories. The programme seeks to answer questions such as:
- What drives people to act, respond, remember and recognise things the way they do?
- Why are social relationships so important – how do we make and break them, and what can we do to improve our
  relationships?
- How does our cultural background affect thinking, motivations, personality, interpersonal behaviours and group processes?
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology (Top-up) is a Direct Honours Degree programme that consists of 14 modules.

Graduation & Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from University of Essex, United Kingdom.

The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in the United Kingdom.

Honours Award
Honours in the Degree will be awarded based on the total marks of all programmes in accordance with the university programmes regulations.

Assessment

Each module is assessed by a combination of written assignments, projects, presentations and examinations. Assessment methods may vary according to individual module requirements.

Delivery Mode

Part-time Programme

Each term is a 18-week period covering the required programme of study. Classes are conducted on weekday evenings and weekends. They can be organised as lectures, tutorials or workshops and delivered in blended mode.

The actual cycle may vary depending on the nature of the programme and class scheduling. The University and Kaplan reserve the rights to alter the learning cycle, days and timing of the programme, if necessary.

Full-time Programme

Each term is a 18-week period covering the required programme of study. Classes are conducted during the day on weekdays. They can be organised as lectures, tutorials or workshops. Students are expected to be on campus for classes, workshops and self-study.

When required, the University’s Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) process will be applied, on a case-by-case basis, as part of the admissions process for programmes offered in Singapore through our partnership with Kaplan. Any assessment, typically based on evidence of significant and relevant experiential learning, and related admissions decisions would be conducted by University staff and leads to the recognition of the achievement of learning outcomes and the award of University Credit.
